Daphne likes to take things apart.
I don't just mean throwing things around (though that's fun too); she enjoys methodically deconstructing her surroundings. One of our bookcases has a shelf that is both lightly-stocked (paperbacks) and low enough to reach, and she is always delighted to take it apart. She takes the books down one at a time, and then sorts them into piles. Holly and I can't tell what her sorting criteria are, but I guess Daphne knows.
Anyway, we were at the library the other day, and Daphne was happily scooting around the toys they have in the children's section when she came to a realization. You could see it dawning on her: she was surrounded by shelves, and they were full of books. Thousands of books, stretching out of sight in every direction!
Fortunately for everyone involved, the first shelf she picked was packed too tightly for her to pull anything out, and she lost interest quickly. Phew, dodged a bullet there!
She's sick (her 7,346th cold this winter) but, hey, is she cute, or what?

Jack, you also liked to take things apart. The empty bookshelf from which you once fell, you emptied. With my encouragement because we were moving. I gave you abox and showed you how to put books in it. Mom
