The others were picked to match the color scheme, which was based on a "springtime tea party" theme. She made out, of course; aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas all contributed loot. "O-*kay*, Daphne, I guess we can start opening these now!" Since she's old enough that the unwrapping process has its own significance for her, she unwrapped everything first, and *then* went back to look at and play with the individual stuffses. Not that she wasn't interested in playing. Indeed, the tea party commenced immediately. Finally it was time for cake. [Recent successes][1] notwithstanding, we have a long history of making [ugly cakes][2] for birthdays. We elected to let a professional handle it this time. Daphne got double the party action this week. Starting right when she woke up: (we hid eggs inside, because it was cold and windy outside...) Loot! ...and more loot! The big one is Daphne's. The small ones are for mommy and daddy and Aunt Nicolette and Uncle Greg, who were there to visit. Aunt Nicolette fixed Daphne's hair up *very* prettily, which of course drove Daphne into a blue funk, because it was not the hairdo she usually gets. Daphne is not one for the graceful acceptance of change, no sir. However, this was nothing that couldn't be fixed by yet another (!!?!) Easter present. This was when we all trucked over to Aunt Mauria and Uncle Bryon's house for Easter brunch. Brunch! Easter lilies! Funny story: Holly bought Mauria this Easter lily; Mauria had bought the same thing from the same place on the same day for both Holly and Nicolette. I'm surprised we didn't bump into each other at the store. And yes, Daphne eventually calmed down about the hair. S'cute, ain't it?
