$3 Trillion Price Tag Left Out As Bush Details His Agenda (washingtonpost.com)
Apparently, the war and the tax cuts are costing so much that Bush plans to cut funding for homeland security.
Umm. Great. I know the president has been drilling the idea that America Is Now Safer, but I didn’t realize it was so safe that we could commence the de-funding of the Homeland Security department.
(an aside: everytime I read or hear the phrase “Homeland Security”, I get a mental image right out of a 1940s newsreel about European Fascism. Who picked that name?)
Try getting a letter in the mail from the said department. It’s kind of scarry! Apparently the Dept of Homeland Security is now linked to the Citizenship and Immigration. Don’t worry, nothing bad just scarry in when I first looked at it.
Yeah, I think they absorbed the old INS. At least, it seems like I remember hearing something like that.
Of course, they could be keeping tabs on you because you are a security risk now that you are in Canada – a lotta French up there, not to be trusted! :)
