driftin’ along like a…
Hot tip: although I don’t post long text passages here on my blog all that often, I do add my own bits and pieces of fluff to these vast intarwebs fairly often. I post pictures to Flickr, links to del.icio.us, books to Vox, tiny text updates to Twitter…
It turns out there’s a pretty good way to keep track of this type of info: Tumblr lets you easily create a “tumblelog”, which is sort of an ADD-sufferer’s blog-substitute… oh, hell, I’ll just let Wikipedia describe it:
A tumblelog is a variation of a blog, that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, this format is frequently used to share the author’s creations, discoveries, or experiences without providing a commentary.
So Tumblr does this by automagically snarfing up all of your incidental web content (the Flickr, the del.icio.us, and so on) and posting it in tumblelog format. You can easily enter the standard tumbleloggish content right there in the Tumblr interface, of course, but if you’re already posting stuff to all of those other places (like I am) then you really don’t have to.
So, visit my tumbly domain, if you’re so inclined. You’re more likely to see the good stuff there than here.
And, thank heavens, it has a very nice RSS feed, so I don’t have to actually visit a website (or, you know, walk 20 feet) to find out what you’re up to. Cool find!
