This guy pisses me off. What pisses me off the most is that he’s so popular. So i wrote him a letter. here it is. No one get offended. I was just making fun of him and i’m sure he gets a million emails like this a day.

Ben, I just finished reading a series of articles written by you and linked from various websites and blogs. WOW. Ben, I commend your writing ability and your achievements at such a young age, however I cannot help but notice that all your assumptions and arguments are dead wrong. I’m not saying that your personal philosophies and opinions are wrong; such things are, by their nature, not subject to this particular criticism, your opinions are yours and cannot be described as right or wrong. I am, however, pointing out your inability to distinguish between what is your opinion, and what is fact. You constantly make statements as if they were true, statements that cannot and will never be verified as truth. Worse still, you sneak in insinuations and implications riddled with logical and literal fallacies in order to sway the opinion of your reader. Where credible persuasive writers would include facts and statistics, you spout half-truths as if you have the moral-authority to do so.

Ben, for the sake of reality, I suggest you take a close look at yourself. The truth is that the one and only thing seperating you from your idealogical opposition is religious conviction. Convictions you may even share with your opponents, but while they keep them out of political discussion, you base everything on them. I am not saying that religion is a bad thing. I’m saying that basing your point of view on nothing but your religious convictions, and imposing that point of view on a population that doesn’t neccessarily share those convictions, is wrong. Although the two paths instersect, and rightly so, there is a real difference between what is best for society, and what is spiritually clean. I really think you need to make that distinction. You are on a path that will inevitably turn you into the next Pat Robertson. You are blind to your own faults, and you take joy in pointing out the alleged/percieved faults of others.

With admittedly disingenuous respect,

Me

ps.
I am also 21 years old, and speaking with the voice and in the language of our “lost generation”, dude, you’re a douchebag.

I can’t even tell you how sad this Poll makes me. 2/3 of Americans apparently couldn’t care less what liberties they have to give up as long as it’s in the name of fighting terrorism. The NSA domestic spying/wiretap thing was bad enough but at least the general population had a reasonable expactation that they weren’t being personally targeted by that program. They do not have that comfort anymore. This simply takes it one step furthur. I’ll even suggest that if this story didn’t come out during the buzz about the domestic spying program a few months ago, then there’s plenty more “programs” that we don’t know about now.

“Those who would sacrifice essential liberties for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” - Ben Franklin.

And before anyone suggests it, let me tell you that yes, my right to make a phone call without the government knowing about it IS an essential liberty. And furthermore, anyone who actually believes this program is making them any safer is deluded. If anybody is planning to do harm to this country and they’re using phones to talk about those plans, then you can be damn sure they are clever enough to be using disposable phones or have some other way of making their calls un-trackable. The NSA knows this. That’s the scariest part. They have other reasons to want this information. You can bet that it’s being used to track and investigate drug offenders, political dissidents, and basically anybody the administration asks the NSA to keep an eye on for any reason.
